PIERCE COUNTY

OCTOBER, 2024...

Welcome to three new advocates who were sworn in by Judge Murphy on October 29. This was a small but enthusiastic class, and they are looking forward to getting their first cases and doing this important work.

For more information contact Clarissa Fletcher (253) 798-3837.

KID Connect supports kids in the foster care system in Pierce County by providing them with things that normalize their childhood and bring joy to their lives.

We are sincerely grateful to the Puyallup Tribe, the Kelly Foundation and the June & Julius Foss Foundation for their generous support of our Extraordinary Things program. Their financial support will help KID Connect to bring happiness to our kids.

Recent Program Initiatives:

• We've filled special requests for typical childhood activities and the extra things that bring joy to a child's life.   >>- - - more

KID Connect Pierce County
is a 501(c)3 that supports the work of the Child Advocate Program. Since we are not part of the court system, we can provide support and grants to the program and the families we serve where the CA Program has restrictions.

What is Kid Connect?

Kid Connect is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organized to support the Pierce County Child Advocate Program program. This year we've:

  • Provided funding for the "A Book for Me" program and the Diaper Drive.

  • Helped with recruitment efforts through speaking engagements and booths at community events.

  • Partnered with the United Way to provide our kids and CAAs with tickets to community events.

  • Provided some of the meals for the Arts Connect girls.

  • Funded CAA and GAL requests that were denied by the Children's Fund.

  • Worked on the Pinwheels for Prevention project.

  • Produced the Kid-Connect newsletter.

Kid Connect meetings are open to all CAAs and supporters of the CAP program.

in PIERCE COUNTY EVENT

JANUARY 21, 2024...
Good News...

KID Connect is proud to announce the receipt of a $15,000 PSTAA grant which provided funding for books for the Book For Me program. We were able to buy books for children from birth through High School age and also books on parenting and child development for their parents. We are thrilled to know that this year the kids we advocate for can look forward to receiving several new books.

New Resources are Now Within Reach

FREE YMCA MEMBERSHIP FOR DEPENDENT YOUTH IN KITSAP, PIERCE COUNTIES

The YMCAs of Pierce and Kitsap Counties offer free memberships to any dependent youth or children that reside in their area without the GAL [Guardian Ad Litem] needing to fill out the voucher request form!

This means that foster parents, relatives and fictive kin placements can go to the Y and, using the placement letter that is provided to them by DSHS as documentation, will be given free youth and child memberships. Additionally, youth in in-home dependencies are eligible.

This can be a great opportunity for kids in dependency programs.
